"Gems of Fall"
“Gems of Fall” by Adam Grimm was designed exclusively for the Friends of NRA Program to be featured in their 2010 National Merchandise Package.
Finding early success in NRA’s own youth art competitions, artist Adam Grimm comes full circle to bring Friends of NRA this exclusive “Gems of Fall” painting.
Grimm was a three-time winner of the NRA sponsored Junior Wildlife Art Competition and since, went on to win the prestigious Federal Duck Stamp Competition at the age of 21 and has been commissioned for several state duck stamps, as well as obtain many other celebrated awards and recognitions. In “Gems of Fall”, Grimm uses a warm autumn backdrop to illuminate four majestic mallards as they fly over marshy waters.
Each duck’s individual colors shine in the sun’s morning glow, creating a visually stunning piece that is sure to win its way into any duck hunter’s heart or home.
Each unframed giclée canvas print measures approximately 17 X 28 inches, and are hand signed by the artist, and numbered between 1/150 - 150/150 (Artist Proof).
This is one of my newest paintings. It was done exclusively for the NRA. The original measures 22 X 36 inches and is completed with oil paints on masonite board. With this image, I wanted to create an interesting, colorful composition, while maintaining a natural feel. Painting birds accurately in flight has always been a goal of mine. It is a unique challenge but it is something that I enjoy making an attempt at. I wanted to give the viewer the sense of being in very close proximity to these Mallards as they are back flapping in for a landing. You might notice that the main hen mallard is even looking at you.
The background is from some farmland in Ohio where I grew up hunting. I have many great memories from this location.
